Funding Overview

Funding assistance may be available to help you restore your speech while controlling out-of-pocket costs. The number and types of funding sources available for speech devices vary, and can be determined by many factors including:

  • The potential user
  • Location
  • Application timelines

What are his/her needs? In order to determine if funding is available and appropriate, the potential user’s characteristics will be assessed. A user’s age and disability help institutions determine if he/she is a strong candidate for AAC funding.

Location, location, location! Different parts of the country have different coverage for speech devices. A potential user’s location will help determine the funding assistance available in his/her area.

Timing is everything. One’s ability to secure funding for a speech device can depend on when he/she applies for funding. Applying for finding when assistance budgets are available may help you secure financial aid for a large portion of your speech device.
